Everything known about the Naruto Card Game, in the order you actually need it. Rules come from Bandai's reveal and the Gen Con tutorial sessions, so details may shift before the Summer 2027 launch — where something is a guess, we say so.

01
The goal

Reduce their Leader to zero.

Two players. Each builds a deck around one Leader. Every Leader starts at 15 Life. Attack until your opponent's Leader hits zero, and that's the game. Everything else on this page is about how you get there.

Deck building

What's in your deck.

A legal deck is fixed in size, and your Leader's attribute colours decide which Characters you may include. No extra deck has been shown so far.

Chakra

The bit new players get wrong.

Chakra is not a resource you draw into, and it is never used to summon Characters — you get one free summon a turn regardless. Your five Chakra cards sit in their own area and you spend one by turning it face-down, usually to fire a Support or Jutsu. And Chakra does not refill on its own: your Leader must rest to flip it all face-up again, which usually means giving up your Leader's attack. Spending now costs you damage later — that trade is the core decision of the whole game.

SpendTurn a Chakra card face-down to pay a cost.
RecoverRest your Leader — all Chakra flips face-up.
The tradeA resting Leader gives up its attack. Timing is the skill.
07
Combat

Three numbers that matter.

DMG
Life removed from the opposing Leader when this card attacks it.
POW
Compared against another Character's POW when they battle. Higher wins.
HP
How much this Character takes before it's knocked out.
Pick a target
Each attack targets the Leader or a Character — one or the other. Hitting the Leader removes Life; hitting a Character starts a battle. Only rested Characters can be targeted.
No damage back
When Characters battle, only the target takes damage. Attacking is low risk — which is why interrupting with Supports matters so much.
No innate rush
A Character played this turn cannot attack, unless a card explicitly grants [Rush].
The chain
Attack declared → on-attack effects → both players may respond with Supports → damage. Responses resolve backwards — closer to Yu-Gi-Oh than One Piece.
